Bhutan in pictures

My short time here was a wonderful experience. I loved the beauty of this country, the mountains, the people, the culture. This deeply Buddhist Kingdom is so beautiful and untouched by tourism. They have managed to retain their culture and customs. This is a country where people still wear their national dress to work. People just go about with their everyday lives.

Like it or not I understand why the $240 pppd has been set by the government. This fee is imposed so Bhutan can continue to retain its culture & customs. Once you allow backpackers in to roam about freely next the tacky souvenir shops, Irish pubs, cheap hostels and backpacker cafes will follow.

People paint giant penis's on their houses for fertility reasons. I swear I am not making this up!!
I was taken to the Temple of fertility where a monk blessed me with a giant stick in the shape of a giant phallus! Again, I swear I am not making this up!

Such a cute little girl in traditional dress
