Vang Vieng

Nestled beside the Nam Song (Song River) amid stunningly beautiful limestone karst terrain, Vang Vieng provokes a mix of responses. I think it's you either love it or hate it. This place is beautiful but it's also a major backpacker destination where people come to go tubing down the river and drink lots of beer and smoke lots of pot. Think of it as a giant river crawl.

I have to admit that I am finally beginning to feel old around all these crazy yahoo's. I'm just not into all this partying and prefer to sit around with my book and being lazy. You would not believe it but I have not had a single hangover since my travels.

Luckily I met a few other like minded lone travellers in the Four Thousand Islands so we have been travelling together and having our own fun. No tubing.

Laos whisky. Cost $2USD. Bad enough to give you a killer hangover.

Make everything 'HAPPY'. In Laos you can buy pizza, shakes, cakes with opium, magic mushrooms and marijuana for an extra 50 cents. It's crazy.

Walking along the Mekong River

Lovely little bungalow . E-17

The group I have been travelling with for the past week.
