Jaipur day 4 & 5

Day 4
Today is the Indian equivalent of New Years Day so it is really quite in the streets. I wander into town to see people celebrate Diwali. There are temples that have opened up that are normally closed. I get dragged into one and it is just mayhem as people are trying to get at a statue that is gated off and throw money at it. Im afraid I cannot tell you what this statue is of. Then some security guard calls me over to him and orders me past all the people and within the confines of the gate and makes me kneel directly in front of this statue and bow. It is really weird and everyone is watching me and still throwing money which keeps hitting me.

I must say that life of a traveller is not all fun and games. My only pair of trousers have a hole in them so I go to the market to buy some thread and needles.

'hello, would you like to buy a pashmina'?
'no, just needle and thread'
'what about a cushion cover'?
'no, just needle and thread'
'what about an elephant bed spread'
'err no, just needle and thread'
'are you sure you don't want a pashmina? I'll give you a good price'
'NO, JUST NEEDLE & THREAD'!!!

Day 5

On my very last day at Lloyds I met a colleague who happened to be visiting Jaipur at the same time as me. So we met up and he drove me all around Jaipur and even let me drive for a short bit. Must say it was one of the shortest scariest moments of my life! He took me to Amber Fort where we mooched around and then did a bit more sight seeing before I had to catch a 9 hour bus to Udaipur.
