Udaipur

After a 9 hour bus journey from Jaipur to Udaipur (which flew by but I did not get a wink of sleep) I arrived in Udaipur in the early morning utterly exhausted. Udaipur is know as one of India's most romantic cities. The city bascially spreads around the shores of the idyllic Lake Pichola and backdropped by a majestic ring of craggy green hills.

I am staying at Kumbha Palace Guesthouse, which is clean and basic, which is all I ask for really.

This city is really laid back and not as hectic as Japiur, however I am amazed at just how many tourists are here! I have never met so many German's in my life!

This city is also where parts of James Bond's Octopussy was filmed and many of the cafes run free showings of the film around 7pm, which I find kind of funny. I can't imagine too many people wanting to watch it since it's not a very good film to begin with.

I have decided to take it easy here. I spend my days people watching, drinking cups of chai on the roof terraces and taking photos. It's so easy to do that here as it's just so picturesque when you overlook the Lake. I would say it was peaceful, but you never get any peace here with all the cars and autorickshaws constantly beeping their horns.

Last night I was lucky enough to meet two Brit's from Essex (hi Phil and Jez) who are here for a mate's wedding, and whom one of them is an IT contractor for Northern Turst. Ha ha! We basically spent the night sitting on a roof terrace overlooking the lake and drinking beer until the early hours of the morning.

Lake Pichola

People never leave you alone here

A family I met who wanted me to take their photo. The lady in front had the most beautiful eyes!

A holy man who I kept seeing around town. All he did was walk the streets and chain smoke.

People washing their clothes in the lake. Not sure how clean that is!

And yet another Temple - Jagdish Temple
