Bali Week 4

NOT ANOTHER TEMPLE!!! Goa Lawah

Three of the older students took us 3 volunteers out to this temple. It was very nice of them to do so. I just love all the colour and ceremony the Balinese put into praying.

Sarong action
Great kids

Volunteer birthday

On the stormiest night ever we celebrated one of the volunteers' birthday with my local fishing family, who served us the most amazing grilled fish, vegetables and rice, followed by the lushest bananas. We ate the Balinese way : with our hands, while generation of families under one roof stared at us. It was a little unnerving having the entire family watch us while we ate.

Just 2 foreigners....
...as the families watch us we eat....

Pizza night

The night before the 3 Chinese volunteers went home we decided to have a farewell party. We discovered a hippy joint down on the beach that had recently built an earthen clay oven so we asked them if they would allow us to hold a pizza party. They agreed and actually prepared everything for us from the dough, to all the toppings. All we needed to do was roll out the dough (which is harder than you think) and put our toppings on, voila! The night was made even better just by seeing the excitement on the Chinese girls faces, as they had never made pizza before!
